Our story

A small family business with sawdust in its story.

JTM Creative Designs grew from Jim and Tammy McNamara’s shared love of making useful, lasting things and seeing an idea become part of someone’s home.

Jim & Tammy McNamara

From our hands to your home.

JTM is Jim and Tammy McNamara's husband-and-wife workshop, built on more than a decade of woodworking, practical problem-solving, and learning what makes a piece last.

What began with handcrafted furniture, wooden home decor, and garden accents naturally grew into custom decks, fire-pit settings, and home remodeling projects. The scale changed; the approach did not. Listen carefully. Understand how the space needs to work. Build with care. Finish it like it matters.

That direct, down-to-earth relationship is part of what JTM makes. Every project is a collaboration with the person who will live with it, use it, and make memories around it.

Jim and Tammy serve customers across Chicago's South Side and surrounding south and southwest suburbs, as well as Morris, Wilmington, and nearby seasonal camper and RV communities.

How we work

Small-business care is built in.

Personal by default

You work directly with the people listening to the idea and doing the work.

Made for the setting

Dimensions, use, and character guide the build, not a one-size-fits-all template.

Pride in the details

The small choices matter because they are what make the finished result feel complete.

Rooted in real relationships

Made to talk about. Better to live with.

Vendor shows, custom commissions, and word-of-mouth projects have all helped shape JTM. The best work often starts with a simple conversation: “Could you make something like this for my space?”

The answer begins by listening, and that is exactly where your project can begin, too.

Tell us what you’re imagining

Have something in mind?

Let’s make the idea feel at home.

Tell us what you want to build, change, or add. We’ll talk through the space, the details, and the best next step.
